Sfk Tour Enlists International Support

10/07/2001

US indie rockers Crooked Fingers and Brisbane three-piece Gota Cola have been announced as the support acts to Something For Kate on the forthcoming Echo-la-la-lia Tour.

US indie rockers Crooked Fingers and Brisbane three-piece Gota Cola have been announced as the support acts to Something For Kate on the forthcoming Echo-la-la-lia Tour.

Crooked Fingers is the latest project from Eric Bachmann, who is best remembered for his recent work with the seminal indie-rock band Archers of
Loaf, and his solo sound scape outings as the neoclassical Barry Black.
Bachmann is an artist who’s constantly pushing the envelope of modern music and Crooked Fingers is no exception.

Crooked Fingers will play all shows on the Echo-la-la-lia Tour, except for Brisbane. Gota Cola will perform on all dates.

Under 18 fans now have the opportunity to catch the tour at the Corner Hotel in Melbourne, on Sunday, August 19. See the listing below for full details

Meanwhile, Something For Kate’s third album, ‘Echolalia’ has been certified gold, with sales in excess of 35 000 units. This is an outstanding effort, considering the album has been on sale for a mere two weeks. Its predecessor, ‘Beautiful Sharks,’ took a full year to reach gold.

‘Three Dimensions’ the second single from ‘Echolalia,’ has now been added to high rotation on Triple J and across the board on Sydney’s Nova 96.9, and will be available in stores from 6th August

Something For Kate’s Monster Debut

03/07/2001

Echolalia – number two on ARIA albums chart

Melbourne trio, Something For Kate have debuted their third album, “Echolalia” at number two on Australia’s national ARIA albums chart.

Propelled by the hit single “Monsters”, “Echolalia” beat all comers this week, apart from the film soundtrack, Moulin Rouge. So strong has the enthusiasm of fans been that even SFK’s first album, “Elsewhere For Eight Minutes”, returned to the charts.

On the ARIA Alternative chart it was a Something For Kate trifecta, with “Echolalia” at number one, “Elsewhere For Eight Minutes” at twelve and the band’s sophomore long-player, “Beautiful Sharks” at sixteen.

The next step for Something For Kate is the aptly titled Echo-la-la-lia Tour, which commences in August.

Following on from the sold-out Mythology tour that wound its way across Australia throughout May, The Echo-la-la-lia Tour will kick off in Canberra on August 8 and conclude in Brisbane on the 31st of the month. In between the tour will take in all mainland state capitals and a couple of key regional centres.

Tickets for The Echo-la-la-lia Tour will be on sale from July 2 and special guests for each date will soon be announced.

At a presentation in Melbourne on Thursday night, Something for Kate received their GOLD RECORD AWARDS for sales of the album Beautiful Sharks. It’s the work of a loyal fan base and word of mouth that has turned so many people onto the music of Something for Kate.

After the debut of many new songs over the past months at both solo and band shows, we here at somethingingforkate.com are eagerly looking forward to the release of the third album, the follow up to Beautiful Sharks early next year.

If you have a chance to see Paul Dempsey solo at the Livid Festival or the band at the Homebake Festival in Sydney you’ll be treated to a taste of what to expect.

Congratulations to the Band and Management.

TRULY ! Many people have written lately asking where they can get hold of this track.

TRULY was originally available on the EP ‘Intermission’, which was a limited edition and sold out not long after its release. The Vinyl copies of the debut album ‘Elsewhere for Eight Minutes’ include a second disc, that is the EP ‘Intermission’ and would be your best chance to own that EP. the original CD-EP can sometimes be found in collectors stores or online auctions (ebay), however this is a sought after item and is reflected in the price you’d be asked to pay.

A live version of TRULY was included on the Compilation Video ‘Big Screen Television’ this video is available from most record stores, or try an online retailer for a copy (Whammo).

There are no plans to re-release TRULY again, so the video represents possibly your last chance to purchase this track.
