ANNOUNCING ‘SOMETHING FOR JOHN’

SOMETHING FOR KATE, CLARE BOWDITCH & DARREN MIDDLETON TO PLAY BENEFIT CONCERT IN MELBOURNE… APRIL 18th  THE CORNER HOTEL

Paul Dempsey says:

If you’ve been to a show by Something for Kate or the Paul Dempsey band in the last six years then you will have heard and seen the incredibly talented John Hedigan up there on stage-left working his magic on guitars, keyboards and backing vocals, making it all look completely effortless and generally making us all sound a whole lot better. He’s a brilliant musician as well as a professional music therapist, an enthusiastic astronomer, a friend, a husband, a father, a much-loved member of the Something for Kate family and a generally first-rate human being.”

Earlier this year John found out that he has a brain tumour for which he is currently undergoing treatment. Obviously he’s going to be out of action for a while as he continues his treatment and battles the cancer and obviously his friends want to do whatever we can to help him and his family through what is obviously a pretty trying time.

Clare adds:  “John is the only reason I started recording songs, and the only reason anyone has ever heard of me, full stop. When we met by chance at the age of 22, he heard something in me that no-one else had ever heard, and he asked me to start a band with him, right there and then. He was the first musician to ever call me a musician, and I have never lost the feeling of how good that felt. He took my half-finished songs and made them sound like something you could be proud of. “

So, along with other great Hedigan buddies Clare Bowditch and Darren Middleton, we are happy to bring you ‘Something for John’, a night of music at the Corner Hotel featuring Something for Kate, Clare Bowditch with her 10-piece band and Powderfinger’s Darren Middleton. Every last person involved in the evening, onstage and off, will be donating their time and efforts so that all proceeds can go directly to John his family.

We’d love you to join us for an evening of music and to help us show support. For those unable to attend the show but still wishing to contribute,  donations can be made via The Corner Hotel website ticketing page for this show.

*Please note, SFK bassplayer, Stephanie Ashworth will unfortunately not be performing at this event due to health reasons. She will be replaced by the wonderful Patrick Bourke on bass in  the current all boy lineup of SFK!
